GREG ADLER AND TEAM 4 WHEEL PARTS TO BATTLE FOR THE HAMMERS CROWN

Compton, California (February 2, 2018) – In the constantly evolving world of off-road racing and recreation, the words “King of the Hammers” have come to represent an event that combines elements of the famed Burning Man gathering with the raw, unbridled, no-holds-barred horsepower of a Mad Max film – all centered around a 200-mile off-road race that will pit Greg Adler and Team 4 Wheel Parts against some of the biggest names in off-road motorsports. Piloting his Mint 400 winning Ultra4 #210 built by his co-driver, Brian Kirby, Adler will share driving duties with off-road racing icon, Rob MacCachren and together, they will attempt to tame the course while outlasting and out racing the competition in what is widely viewed as the toughest single day race in the world.

“We had a tremendously successful year with our Ultra4 car,” said Adler, in the midst of final preparations for the event. “We were among an elite group of finishers at Hammers last year, then we dusted off the car took on the Mint 400 and captured the win. Ending the season with a podium at the Baja 1000 was the icing on the cake. We’ve put some miles on the car and know what it’s capable of and now, we’re headed to Hammers with greater expectations of ourselves.”

Also representing Team 4 Wheel Parts in the elite Ultra4 field is company Events and Advertising Director, Brent Goegebuer. Goegebuer, a veteran competitor in his own right, completes the one-two punch in the high horse powered main event.

“There’s no other race in the world that combines the high speed action of the wide open desert with the slow, technical rock crawling that Hammers puts us through,” said Goegebuer. “This course tears up equipment and the attrition rate is going to be high. We’re going to set our sights on the finish line and if everything comes together, we’re going to fight to put Team 4 Wheel Parts on the podium.”

For most of the year, you will find the lake bed in Southern California’s Johnson Valley, to be a quiet, desolate outpost on the edge of the Mojave Desert, attracting the occasional weekend warrior as they enjoy the peaceful serenity and various forms of off-road recreation. Most travelers, passing by on lonely Highway 247 that links the Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree to Victorville are unaware that this particular lakebed hosts the largest gathering of off-road enthusiasts for a single week each February and once a year, this lake bed is transformed from a hardcore rock crawler’s paradise into the mecca of the sport as tens of thousands of spectators join off-roading’s elite competitors for the annual pilgrimage known as King of the Hammers.

For those tens of thousands of off-road enthusiasts, “The Lakebed is Calling” has become more than a marketing slogan, it has become the battle cry for the die-hard off-roaders throughout the Nation who have marked February 2 – 10 on their calendars as the can’t miss off-road event of the year. Once a single race combining rock crawling and desert racing is now a weeklong event comprised of five unique races held over the course of seven days. Along with his role as competitor, Adler the President and CEO of off-road retailer, 4 Wheel Parts, also leads a contingent of employees who are onsite throughout the week to support their corporate sponsorship of the event while engaging with customers and suppliers.

“As much more than an off-road race, KOH is a gathering of off-roaders and a celebration of everything we represent at 4 Wheel Parts,” said Adler. “Dave Cole and his team do an amazing job putting it all together and we are proud to lend our support to this incredible event. For the entire week, we have the opportunity to engage with enthusiasts, customers and suppliers in an environment that really shows off our products, while keeping our finger on the pulse of the industry.”

Ultimately for Adler though, King of the Hammers is about a race in which competitors are more likely to face catastrophic failure and be left behind than see the checkered flag and a race in which only an elite few have ever claimed victory.

“We’re ready,” said Adler. “Rob is incredibly fast in the desert and we proved last year, that together, we have the pace to be among the leaders. I’m looking forward to sharing driving duties with him and seeing where we stack up when the dust settles.”
